The Indian markets continue to extend its winning streak on Thursday on the back of positive global cues, as the US markets closed in the green and even Asian indices are surging in the early trade.

The SGX Nifty traded higher by around 40 points on the Singaporean Exchange, while the Japanese Nikkei 225 rose 0.5 per cent and Hang Seng Index on the Hong Kong Exchange and the Chinese Shanghai Composite gained nearly 2 and 0.4 per cent respectively in the early trade on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Nifty closed at 17,388; up by 0.25 per cent. Most sectoral indices traded in tandem with the benchmark and settled on a flat note. Meanwhile, profit taking on the broader front kept the participants on their toes.

Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking Ltd said, “We expect the index to consolidate further citing mixed indications and it is healthy after the recent surge.”

Meanwhile, participants should maintain their focus on identifying stock-specific opportunities and utilizing any dip to accumulate, Mishra added, recommending to keep a check on leveraged positions and preferring a hedged approach.
