Stocks to buy today, October 6: IRCTC, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finance among 20 shares in focus

Stocks to buy today, October 6: Stock market on October 6 is likely to open in green as SGX Nifty - which is traded on the Singapore stock exchange - was trading above 17400 after gaining nearly 90 points or 0.49% higher at 8:30 am. Asian trade markets also showed a mixed response in the early trade. While Japan's NIKKEI 225 gained 0.91% in early trade, Korea Composite Stock Price Index or KOSPI Index gained over 1.25%. 

In the previous session, benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty bounced back to close over 2% higher on buying in banking, metal and IT shares amid positive trends in global equity markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex spurted 1,276.66 points or 2.25% to settle at 58,065.47 with 27 of its shares ending in the green. During the day, it zoomed 1,311.13 points or 2.30% to 58,099.94. The broader NSE Nifty rallied 386.95 points or 2.29% to end at 17,274.30 as 48 of its constituents advanced.

Meanwhile, US stocks failed to maintain strong gains in the first two days of the fourth quarter and fell on Wedensday. All major US stock indices opened in the red. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.16% in early trading, while the S&P 500 lost 1.5% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.87%.
