Stocks to buy today, October 3: Stock market on Friday, September 30, Indian equity benchmarks made a stunning comeback after falling for seven straight sessions on account of the RBI's Monetary Policy announcement. Banking, financial services and auto stocks contributed to the rally as Sensex gained over 1000 points to end at 57,426.92 and Nifty advanced 276.20 points or 1.64% to finish at 17,094.30. The benchmark indices snapped the losing streak after the RBI hiked interest rates by 50 basis points on expected lines. On Monday, bears are likely to dominate Dalal Street as SGX Nifty - which is traded on the Singapore stock exchange - was down by over 160 points at 8:10 am.

During Friday's trading session, the US markets had plunged as tightening rate hikes and long-term recession dented sentiment. Dow Jones touched a fresh 52-week low of 28,715.85 and the index closed 500 points lower or 1.71 per cent at 27,715.51. Nasdaq and S&P 500 both slipped 1.51 per cent each. Meanwhile, the off-calendar meet of US Federal Reserve is scheduled on Monday, October 3, which is likely to keep the market volatile.
