Stocks to buy today: MSTC, Tata Steel, Metropolis and Ashok Leyland among list of 20 stocks for profitable trade on July 22

After the market ended with gains for the fifth consecutive session on Thursday, the cues from the Asian market remained fat to positive on Friday morning. The cues were largely positive despite Europe Central Bank hiked interest rate by half per cent for the first time in 11 years.  

SGX Nifty, which indicate opening trends of the Indian market, was trading flat with marginal gain of 15 points on the Singaporean Exchange on early Friday.  

Likewise, Japanese Nikkei 225 gained 0.25%, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange rose by 0.55% and Chinese Shanghai Composite was seen trading higher by almost half per cent on Friday morning.  

Earlier, the US market extended its winning streak to the third day as Dow Jones closed with over half per cent gains, Nasdaq surged by 1.4% and S&P 500 ended higher by almost one per cent on Thursday.  

"With support from FII buying, the domestic market was able to withstand the downward pressure from global markets to close on a positive note. Global indices traded lower on rate hike worries as ECB in its meeting today, is expected to raise rates by 50bps," Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services said on Thursday. 

Even though a rate hike of this magnitude has already been factored in, the major market driver would be their commentary on future inflation and growth forecasts, the expert had said.
