The Indian markets ended nearly 1.25% lower on Tuesday ahead of FOMC meeting today. Global cues on Wednesday turned positive with oil falling below $100, easing of tensions between Russia and Ukraine and SGX Nifty surging by more than 250 points in the early trade.

On Tuesday, sapping 5 days winning streak, the broader Nifty50 slipped below 16,700 and the Sensex tanked nearly 700 points in Tuesday's closing.

Auto, FMCG saw some buying interest and were only sectors to close in the green as Metal, oil & gas and IT dragged market the most. 

"The market witnessed profit booking after it failed to sustain above the level of 16,800. Market research suggests that 16600 is an important support level," said Vijay Dhanotiya, Lead of Technical Research at CapitalVia Global Research Limited. 

Meanwhile, the Asian markets were trading in the green in the early trade as Japanese Nikkei 225 was up more than 3%, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange was trading higher by more than 2% and Chinese Shanghai Composite was up 0.5% around 7.30 this morning.  

The US market closed in the green on Tuesday ahead of the Fed meeting today. Dow Jones was up 599 points, Nasdaq Composite 367 points and S&P 500 ended higher by 89 points.
