The week gone by witnessed only one positive closing out of five sessions in highly volatile trading. Benchmark Sensex and barometer Nifty50 closed 0.16% and 0.10% lower on Friday. Nifty Midcap declined 0.91% and Nifty Smallcap plunged 1.06% as Realty, oil & gas, Pharma, media sectors were worst hit.
As current global cues are forcing global equities to remain unstable, the domestic market is also expected to continue its volatile trend in the coming days, says Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.

"On the lower end, 17200 may act as support for the falling market. On the higher end, crucial resistance is placed at 17500," Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities said.
Meanwhile, Asian share markets slipped on Monday amid warnings Russia was set to invade Ukraine. Russia upped the ante in the high-stakes diplomatic game by extending military drills in Belarus, while satellite imagery from Maxar showed multiple new field deployments of armour and troops near the border with Ukraine, reported Reuters.
Japanese Nikkei 225 was trading lower by more than 0.59%, Hang Seng Index that Hong Kong Exchange was down by 0.51% and Shanghai Composite was trading 0.42% lower in the early morning trade amid uncertainty surrounding Russia-Ukraine on Monday.
Earlier, the US markets too had ended in deep red on Friday. Dow Jones slipped 0.6(5, Nasdaq Composite declined 1.23%, S&P500 closed 0.72% ad Russell 2000 slumped 0.93% in Friday's closing.
