Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and the Sensex slipped in the red on Wednesday amid volatility and weakness in the global market. The indices ended one per cent lower as huge selling pressure witnessed by banking and financial stocks weighed on the market. All Nifty sectoral indices closed lower on Wednesday, but the maximum selling pressure was seen in banking, consumer durable and oil & gas stocks.

Meanwhile, Asian markets were off to a good start in the early trade on Thursday as all major indices traded in the green. Japanese Nikkei 225 was up 0.61%, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange rose 0.9% and Chinese Shanghai Composite 0.6% around 8.5 am on Thursday.  

Similarly, SGX Nifty Futures on the Singaporean exchange was marginally up by 20 points around the same time.
