Stocks In News Today, October 18: The broader NSE Nifty climbed 126.10 points or 0.73% to end at 17,311.80, marking its second straight session of gains.
Stocks In News Today, October 18: Benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 491 points while Nifty settled above the 17,300 level on Monday on the back of buying in index majors Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and recovery in global markets. Rising for a second session, the 30-share Sensex jumped 491.01 points or 0.85% to settle at 58,410.98. The index opened lower and fell to a low of 57,639.80 in early trade. However, it bounced back in late morning deals and hit rallied 529.03 points or 0.91% to touch a high of 58,449. The broader NSE Nifty climbed 126.10 points or 0.73% to end at 17,311.80, marking its second straight session of gains. In Asia, markets in Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong settled higher, while Tokyo ended lower. US stocks too kicked off the trading week on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 827.87 points, or 2.83 per cent, to 30,038.72, the S&P 500 gained 92.88 points, or 2.60 per cent, to 3,669.91 and the Nasdaq Composite added 232.05 points, or 2.23 per cent, to 10,649.15.

Gujarat Gas Ltd
Ahead of Diwali, the Gujarat government on Monday announced a reduction in VAT (Value Added Tax) on CNG and PNG by 10 per cent and said two cooking gas cylinders will be given free every year to 38 lakh beneficiaries who have got gas connections under the Centre's Ujjwala scheme.
ACC
Cement maker ACC on Monday reported a consolidated net loss of ₹87.32 crore for September quarter on account of a steep rise in fuel cost. The company had posted a profit of ₹450.21 crore for the same quarter a year earlier, said ACC Ltd, now a part of Adani Cement, in a BSE filing.
PVR
Film exhibition firm PVR Ltd on Monday reported a narrowing of consolidated loss after tax at Rs 71.49 crore in the second quarter ended September with people returning to cinemas as the pandemic eases. The company had posted a consolidated loss after tax of Rs 153.27 crore in the year-ago period, it said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations in the second quarter stood at Rs 686.72 crore as against Rs 120.32 crore in the corresponding period of previous year, it added. Total expenses were higher at Rs 813.33 crore as compared to Rs 460.68 crore, PVR Ltd said.
