Stocks in News Today, November 18: Stock markets are set to open higher on the week's last trading day as the SGX Nifty - an early indicator of sentiment on the NSE Nifty50 - was up by 58.5 points, or 0.32 per cent, at 18,433.5. Asian stocks also traded in the green in the morning trade. While Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up by 54 points, South Korea’s Kospi gained 18.15 points. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index zoomed 241 points or 0.37 per cent. But the Shanghai Composite in mainland China traded flat.

Earlier on Thursday, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 230.12 points or 0.37 per cent to settle at 61,750.60. The broader NSE Nifty dipped 65.75 points or 0.36 per cent to end at 18,343.90.

Meanwhile, Wall Street's S&P 500 stock index fell on Thursday as hawkish comments from a U.S. Federal Reserve official and data showing the labor market remained tight led some investors to worry about more aggressive interest rate hikes. The S&P 500 lost 12.23 points, or 0.31 per cent, to end at 3,946.56 points, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 38.701points, or 0.35 per cent, to 11,144.958. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 7.51 points, or 0.02 per cent, to 33,546.32.

Stocks in News Today, November 18: 

Nykaa: Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) on Thursday bought over 1.70 crore shares of Nykaa's parent company FSN E-Commerce Ventures for Rs 299 crore through an open market transaction. CPPIB purchased a total of 1,70,81,850 shares of the company, as per bulk deal data available with the BSE.

Paytm:  Softbank on Thursday divested 4.5 per cent stake in Paytm's parent One97 Communications for Rs 1,631 crore through an open market transaction. Earlier this month, the lock-in period ended for the pre-offer investors that had invested in Paytm, which was listed on the bourses in November last year. Shares of the company tumbled nearly 11 per cent on Thursday. The stock tanked 10.31 per cent to settle at Rs 539.55 on the BSE. 

Vedanta: The Metal major is scheduled to announce its third interim dividend for the financial year 2022-23 (FY23) next week. The metal company has already announced the Record Date for the third interim dividend, which is expected to be approved by the board on Tuesday, next week. "The Record date for eligibility of second interim dividend, if any, so declared will be Thursday, November 24, 2022," the company said in the filing.

Fortis Healthcare: Market regulator Sebi has advised Malaysia's IHH Healthcare to proceed with its stalled open offer to acquire 26.1 per cent market share in Fortis Healthcare only after obtaining an order from the Delhi High Court. IHH Healthcare had acquired 31.17 per cent stake in Fortis by infusing fresh capital of ₹ 4,000 crore in November 2018.

Paint Stocks: Share of paint companies - Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Indigo Paints - remains in focus as oil prices continue to fall in the international market. London-traded Brent, the global benchmark for oil, slumped below $90 per barrel for the first time since October.
