Stock Markets Today Opening Bell: BSE Sensex, Nifty50 open in red, fall nearly 1%; Hindalco, HDFC top losers
Stock Markets Today Opening Bell: India stock markets today opened in the red on Friday snapping the three-day gaining streak. While the BSE Sensex was trading at 57,340.21, down by 571 points or nearly 1 per cent within minutes of opening, the 50-share Nifty50 index was trading at 17,219.30 points down nearly 1 per cent or 150 points.
In the 30-share BSE Sensex, only three stock advanced around 9:30 am while the remainig 27 stocks were trading negatively. The top gainers on Sensex were HCL Technologies, Tata Steel and Bhart Airtel while the top five losers were NTPC, ITC, Power Grid, Sun Pharmaceuticals and Bajaj Finance.
On Nifty50 index, 44 stocks declined while only six were trading positively around this time. The top gainers were ONGC, HCL Technologies while the top five losers were Hindalco, HDFC, Wipro, Nestle, HDFC Bank.
Of the 15 Sectoral indices, 14 were trading in the red while the lone gainer was Nifty IT, thogh only marginally. Nifty Bnak, Nifty Auto and Nifty Financial services were among the worst performing indices around this time. They were down over 1 per cent each.

Domestic headline indices ended with robust gains on Thursday, April 21, 2022, rising for the second trading session. Positive global cues boosted sentiment. The barometer index, S&P BSE Sensex rallied 874.18 points or 1.53% at 57,911.68. The Nifty 50 index advanced 256.05 points or 1.49% at 17,392.60. The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, dropped 4.39% to 17.85.
