Stock Markets Today: Closing bell! BSE Sensex, NSE Nifty end in red; THESE are top gainers and losers

The stock markets today ended the day in the red. While the BSE Sensex closed at 49,564.86, down by over 337 points or almost 0.7 per cent, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 14,906.05, up by over 124 points or 0.8 per at the end of the trading session.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 9 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Thursday trade while the remaining 21 were trading in the red. The top gainers on Thursday in the closing trade were Mahindra & Mahindra, Indusind Bank, Titan, SBI and Larsen & Toubro while the top losers were ONGC, Sun Pharma, Power Grid, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.

Meanwhile, 14 shares advanced while 36 declined on the Nifty 50 index. Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra, BPCL, Indusind Bank and Titan were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Thursday. The top losers in the day’s trade were Tata Steel, Hindalco, Coal India, Britannia and ONGC 

Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Bank were up while Nifty Auto was down at the close.  

Nifty Indices 

1. Nifty Bank ended 1 per cent down at 33,334.55.  
2. Nifty Auto was down 0.2 per cent at 10,226.40 at the end of the day’s trading session. 
3. Nifty PSU ended in the green, going up by almost 0.4 per cent at 2262.20 
4. Nifty FMCG, Nifty IT, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal also ended negatively.

Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 73.1900 on the BSE against the USD at 3:50 pm on BSE going down by 0.1 per cent.
