Stock Markets CLOSING BELL! Sensex, Nifty hit RECORD highs; IT stocks among major movers; HCL Tech, Wipro among top gainers
Sensex touched its all-time high of 53,266 today. In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 17 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Thursdays trading session while the remaining 13 stocks were trading in the red at the closing time. The top 5 gainers on Thursday at close were HCL Technologies, Larsen & Toubro, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Ultratech Cement
Indian stock markets on Thursday ended in the green at record highs. While the BSE Sensex ended above the 53,000 mark, the Nifty 50 registered a record high on the intraday basis falling 50 points shy of the 16,000 mark to settle at 15.924.20. It ended 70 points or 0.44 per cent up from the last closing on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sensex ended at 53,158.85, gaining almost 254 points or 0.5 per cent.

Meanwhile in the 50-share NSE Nifty 50, at the closing time 27 shares advanced, while the remaining 23 shares declined. HCL Technologies, Larsen & Toubro, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank and Hindalco Industries were the top 5 gainers on Thursday. The top 5 losers in the day’s trade were ONGC, Eicher Motors, Bharti Airtel, Grasim Industries and Coal India.
Most major indices including Nifty 50, Nifty Midcap 50, Nifty Next 50, Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services ended in the green on Thursday.
Nifty Sectoral Indices
- Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Bank ended 0.67 per cent up at 35,907.65.
- Nifty auto was down 0.40 per cent at 10,426.00.
- Nifty Realty was also up by over 4 per cent and ended at 393.05.
- Nifty PSU Bank ended at 2,471.95, down 0.33 per cent from the Wednesday closing.
- Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma ended in the red on Thursday. Nifty IT, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Metal ended in the green.
Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.5950 on the BSE against the USD at 3:50 pm moving with a negative bias and down by 0.08 per cent on Thursday.
