After an extended holiday, the domestic equity markets opened in the green on Monday. Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty and S&P BSE Sensex gained 52 and 104 points in the early trade to open at 17,969.00 and 60,385.76 respectively.

Banking Index Nifty Bank, however, declined as the 12-share index lost over 100 points to open at 39,674.05.  

Eicher Motors, Tech Mahindra, LT, Power Grid and Titan were top gainer on Monday with 1 t 3 per cent gains.  

On 30-share Sensex, 18 stocks advanced while 12 declined on Monday.  

Meanwhile on Monday, major Asian markets were trading in the red in early trade. Japanese Nikkei 225 Index was marginally down by 25 points to 29587, Hang Sang Index was down 0.51% or 127 points to 24, 743 and Shanghai Composite opened flat around 7.10 am on Monday. 

Earlier on Friday, the Wall Street indices closed with gains as S&P 500 added 17.47 (0.37%) to 4,697.53, Nasdaq Composite to 15,971.59 after gaining 31.28 (0.20%), while Dow Jones traded 203.72 (0.56%) higher to 36,327.95 on Friday's closing
