Stock market holidays 2021: Indian stock markets (BSE and NSE) remain closed on account of festivals, besides Saturdays and Sundays.  Almost every moth BSE and NSE are closed due to festivals. Last month, the markets were closed on 3 days—April2, 14 and 21. April 2 was Good Friday, 14 was Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti and on 21, Ram Navami was celebrated.  
This month share markets will remain closed on only one day due to festival. BSE and NSE will remain closed on May 13,2021 due to Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan Id).  Earlier, the stock exchanges were closed on April 21 due to Ram Navami. Last month, the stock markets were also closed on April 2 and April 14 due to Good Friday and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti respectively.

The share market will remain closed for equity segment, equity derivative segment and SLB Segment on May 13 as per BSE holiday calendar list. The bourse will resume regular business on May 14, Friday, before closing for the weekend.    

As per BSE Trading Holidays 2021 list, the share market will remain closed for 14 days in 2021.    

Besides, on May 13 on account of Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan Id), share markets will also remain closed on the occasions of Bakr Id, Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Diwali Laxmi Pujan, Diwali Balipratipada and Gurunanak Jayanti in coming months. Muhurat Trading shall be held on November 04,2021 (Diwali – Laxmi Pujan). Timings of Muhurat Trading shall be notified subsequently.  The Exchange may alter / change any of the above holidays, for which a separate circular shall be issued in advance.

Meanwhile amid fear of Covid 19 spike, the indices opened on strong note, as Nifty was trading at 14,950 and BSE Sensex at 49,548 after gaining 127 points and 341 points at 2: 15 pm on Monday.
