The NSE Nifty and the BSE Sensex will remain closed on Friday for trading on account of Dussehra. There will be no trading conducted in the equity segment, the equity derivative segment and the SLB segment on October 15, 2021, due to the festival, showed BSE calendar for stock market holiday in 2021.

As per the BSE holiday list, there are 14 days when trades will not be conducted in the equity segment, the equity derivative segment and the SLB segment in 2021. The stock market will see shortened trading days next month as the markets (NSE Nifty, BSE Sensex) will be closed for trading on three days on occasion of festivals.

The share markets will be closed on November 4 (Thursdays) on the occasion of Diwali (Laxmi Puja), next they will again remain shut for equity, derivative segment and SLB segments on November 5 due to Diwali Balipratipada. The markets will also see no action in the said segments on November 19 on account of Gurunanak Jayanti.   

How Stock market fared yesterday, this week 

Earlier on Thursday, Indian stock markets scripted history with Nifty 50 closing the week at a its all-time high at 18,350.75, in a holiday-shortened week.   

S&P BSE Sensex also closed at record high by gaining almost 1% from its previous closing. The 30-share index closed at 61,305.95, up 568.90 points or 0.94%. 

All major indices saw business at record levels. Interestingly, the Indian markets marched forward despite selling pressure from FIIs and DIIs in the three of the four days trade was conducted on BSE and NSE. Besides, domestic markets also braved volatile and sluggish global cues and witnessed buying action in majority of the indices. 

Major action was seen in Tata Group shares in the view of the Tata Motors-TPG deal, IT shares due to result of TCS on last Friday and Wipro, Infosys results this week. Tata Motors-TPG deal triggered action in the auto sector in large. Besides, power and banking shares also remained in focus due to coal shortage and Tata-Air India deal. 

How major indices performed

On the indices front, Nifty50 added 2.5%, Sensex gained 2%, Nifty Bank 4% and Mid Cap Index 3.4% for the week ended on Thursday, October 14,  2021.
