Stock Market closed today: BSE, NSE to remain shut on account of Ganesh Chaturthi
The markets will remain closed on three other occasions in 2022 in October and one in November.
Ganesh Chaturthi which marks the arrival of Lord Ganesh on Earth begins today. The 10-day festival is celebrated with great zeal and fervor across India. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, schools, colleges, educational institutions, government and private offices are closed.
Stock market too is closed on the occasion. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE will remain shut for trading between from 9:15 to 3:30 pm and will open on Thursday, September 1. The forex market will be shut for trading today on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Meanwhile, MCX will remain closed for trading in the morning session between 9 am and 5 pm. It will resume trading in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm. As for the Commodity Derivative Segment, the morning session will be closed, whereas the evening session will be open.
In August, the stock market was closed on August 9 and August 15 on account of Muharram and Independence Day, respectively.
