Share Market Today, September 19: Sensex, Nifty likely to open positive; GIFT Nifty futures up almost 100 pts

Share Market Today, US Fed Rate Cut, Global Markets: Headline indices Sensex and Nifty will likely start today's (September 19) session in positive territory. At around 8:30 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were up 89.40 points or 0.35 per cent at 25,485.50 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.

S&P 500 up 16.32 points or 0.29 per cent at 5,618.26
Dow Jones fell 103 points or 0.25 per cent at 41,508.10
Japan's Nikkei 225 942 points or 2.59 per cent at 37,322.37

US Fed rate cut

US Federal Reserve reduced the interest rates by 50 bps on Wednesday, September 18. Meanwhile, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) stated that in light of progress on inflation and the balance of risks, we decided to lower the range for the funds rate by 1/2 per cent point from 5 per cent to 4.75 per cent.
