Share Market Today, October 15: Sensex, Nifty likely to open in green; GIFT Nifty futures edge higher

Share Market Today, NSE Nifty 50, BSE Sensex: Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty will likely start today's (October 15) session in a positive territory. At around 7:20 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were up 23.50 points or 0.09 per cent at 25,245 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.

Global Markets Update

In US markets, the major indexes closed in the green zone, including the Nasdaq, and S&P 500. Asian market indices are mixed.

Here's how the major global indices fared:

• Nasdaq ended at 18,502.69, up 159.75 points or 0.87 per cent
• S&P 500 down up 44.82 points or 0.77 per cent at 5,859.85
• Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 593.52 points or 1.50 per cent at 40,199.32
• South Korea's KOSPI up 3.54 points or 0.13 per cent at 2,626.83
• Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 54.56 points or 0.26 per cent at 21,038.31

Previous session summary

In the last session (October 14) both domestic indexes ended higher, Sensex closed at 81,973.05, up 591.69 pts or 0.73 per cent and the 50-share index (Nifty 50) closed at 25,127.95, up 163.70 pts or 0.66 per cent amid buying in financial and IT sector stocks such as HDFC Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank, and Wipro were top gainers.
