The Indian market starts Wednesday’s session on a positive note with Nifty hovering around 16,650 & Sensex above 56,000, amid positive global cues. The BSE Sensex jumped over 108 points or 0.19 per cent to 56067 while Nifty50 gained 29 points or 0.18 per cent to 16654 at the open today.

In the broader markets, the mid-cap index too followed the benchmarks suite and soared by over 136 points or 0.5 per cent to 27413 at open on Wednesday. Similarly, Nifty Bank leading the surge in Nifty50, grew over 56 points or 0.16 per cent to 35769 levels today at open.

Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 18 advanced, 29 declined and three remained unchanged minutes after the market open today. Tata Motors become the biggest gainer today, surging over 1 per cent, followed by Tata Steel gaining near 1 per cent, while ICICI Bank, Hindalco and NTPC grew between 0.5-1 per cent.

In otherwise positive market, Tech Mahindra and Titan declined most by around 1 per cent at the market open today, followed by Asian Paint, Divis Lab, UltraTech Cement are other laggards.

Almost all sectoral indices opened in the green today, except Nifty Pharma and IT.  Nifty Metal and financial services continued its gaining streak since yesterday close, followed by private and public banks along with Auto stocks at the market open today. 

On the global front, US markets on Monday closed with gains as Nasdaq and S&P 500 hit a fresh new all-time high, while Asian markets on Tuesday opened with muted gains.

Another important trigger to domestic markets, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Tuesday sold shares worth Rs 1644.91 crore in cash and bought Rs 2380.05 crore in index futures.

The Nifty on Tuesday closed with gains as metals, auto, and financial services stocks lead the Nifty to over 15,625. Bank Nifty saw huge value buying as it gained over 1.67 per cent
