Share Market Closing Bell! Sensex registers record closing, Nifty fails to hold 18000-mark; IT stocks witness selling pressure

The Indian market on Monday continues its gaining streak to close in the green on Monday, as both the benchmark indices hit a new record level intraday today. The banking and financial stocks along with Reliance Industries lift the market most today.
The BSE Sensex surged 76.72 points or 0.13 per cent at 60,135.78; while Nifty50 gained 50.75 points or 0.28 per cent to 17,945.95. Similarly, the mid-cap index along with benchmarks also soared 193.05 points or 0.61 per cent to 31,630.8 at the market close today.

Meanwhile, the Nifty Bank index also hit a new record intraday today, aiding most to the Nifty50. The index breached 38400-level for the first time ever, eventually closed 518.55 points or 1.37 per cent higher to 38,293.8.
As many as 34 stocks advanced and 16 declined of the Nifty50 at the market close on Monday. Tata Motors continues to surge, to become a top gainer at the market close, up 9 per cent; followed by Coal India gained over 4.5 per cent.
Besides, other stocks such as Maruti, Grasim, and Power Grid each gained between 3-4 per cent at the market close on Monday.
On the contrary, Information and technology stocks such as TCS declined most in other wise record high market amid lower-than-expected Q2 numbers. Following the slipping suite of TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech and Wipro each slumped between 1-3 per cent at the close today.
Heavyweights such as Reliance Industries erased all their gains to enter the red zone, down 0.6 per cent at the market close.
Almost all sectoral indices closed in the green, except for Nifty IT, which witnessed a bloodbath on the index, down over 3 per cent. While the Nifty Auto gained most by over 2.5 per cent, followed by Metal, Banking, and Financial indices at the market close.
Similarly, the Nifty Media and Realty powered most to the broader markets such as Mid and Small-cap indices on Monday at the close.
