Share Market Closing Bell! Nifty, Sensex recover losses, end positive; Auto stocks surge most – Tata Motors, Titan top gainers
The Indian market recovered yesterday’s losses to end positive on Thursday, as Sensex jumped near 500 points, while Nifty closed below 17795 levels.
The Indian market recovered yesterday’s losses to end positive on Thursday, as Sensex jumped near 500 points, while Nifty closed below 17795 levels. Tata companies’ shares lifted the benchmarks as well as broader markets most, as Tata Motors and Titan gained up to 13 per cent at close.
The BSE Sensex jumped 488 points or 0.82 per cent at 59,677.83, while Nifty50 fell over 144.35 points or 0.82 per cent to 17,790.35. Similarly, the mid-cap index along with benchmarks also soared over 204 points or 2.45 per cent at the market close today.

At least 33 stocks advanced and 17 declined of Nifty50 at the market close on Thursday. Tata Motors jumped around 13 per cent, followed by Titan, which gained over 10 per cent. Besides, other auto stocks such as M&M, Maruti and Eicher Motors each gained between 3-5 per cent at the market close.
On the contrary, Oil and Natural Gas Company (ONGC) on the back of profit booking declined most by around 4.5 per cent, followed by Dr Reddy’s down over 1 per cent. Similarly, Coal India, Divis Lab, Britannia, HDFC and Nestle India also declined between 0.5-1 per cent in the positive market today.
All sectoral indices closed in the green, with Nifty Auto gaining most by over 4 per cent, followed by Nifty IT and Pharma. Similarly, the broader markets also ended positive as the Realty index surged over 6 per cent, while the media index gained around 1 per cent at the market close on Thursday.
