Sensex today: Big jump! Index hits 52,000 mark, NSE Nifty also firm; Indusind Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC among gainers

Sensex today: The stock markets today opened in the green with BSE Sensex crossing the 52,000 mark. At 9:40 am, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 52,014.76 up by over 470 points or 0.9 per cent. The Broader market NSE Nifty 50 was also up by almost 0.8 per cent or 119 points, trading at 15,283.25 around this time. 

Out of the 30 stocks on BSE Sensex, 21 stocks were trading in the green in the early morning trade while the remaining 9 were trading in the red. The top gainers on Monday in the early trade were Indusind Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel while the top losers were ONGC, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra and Mahindra and Dr Reddy’s.

Meanwhile, on Nifty 50, the top gainers were Indusind Bank, HDFC, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors. The top losers around this time were ONGC, SBI Life, Tech Mahindra Grasim Industries and Coal India. 

Today, the USDINR February futures were trading at 72.6225 around against the USD at 9:25 am on BSE.   

Top Performing Nifty Indices on Monday 

Nifty Bank – was up by 1.7 per cent from the last close on Friday and was trading at 36,727.65. 

Nifty Financial Services – It was also up by 1.7 per cent and was trading at 17,306.70. 

Meanwhile Nifty Media and Nifty Metal were trading in the red around this time.
