Share Market Today, NSE Nifty 50, BSE Sensex: Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty will likely start today's (October 11) session in a negative zone. At around 7:20 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were down 27.40 points or 0.11 per cent at 25,090 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.

In US markets, the major indexes closed in the negative sphere, including the Nasdaq, and S&P 500. While Asian market shares were in the positive territory. 

Here's how the major global indices fared:

  • Nasdaq ended at 18,282, down 9.57 points or 0.05 per cent
  • S&P 500 down 12 points or 0.21 per cent at 5,780
  • Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 227 points or 0.58 per cent at 39,608
  • South Korea's KOSPI up 9.90 points or 0.38 per cent at 2,609

Previous session summary

In the last session (October 10) both domestic indexes ended higher, Sensex closed at 81,611.41, up 144.31 pts or 0.18 per cent and the 50-share index (Nifty 50) closed at 24,998.45, up 16.50 pts or 0.07 per cent. Meanwhile, financial, and energy sector stocks such as HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Power Grid, and NTPC were top gainers.
