Opening Bell: Sensex opens above 59,000, Nifty goes past 17,600 in opening trade
The Indian markets started Monday's session on a strong note amid positive global cues. Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty and the Sensex opened at 17,619.10 and 59,103.72, respectively. Nifty Bank also gained nearly 400 points to open above 37,500.

Powergrid, NTPC, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Hindalco were top gainers, while Nestle India, Bajaj Finance and Tech Mahindra and Reliance declined te most.
In the pre-open session, the Sensex was trading 300 points or 0.54% higher at 59,103.72.
Earlier, SGX Nifty Futures was trading over 120 points higher at 9.10 am, hinting at positive opening for the Indian markets.
Earlier, Asian markets were off to a good start on Monday as most of them traded in the green. Japanese Nikkei 225 was trading 1.10% or 313 points up to 28,751, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange was also 0.99% higher, while Shanghai Composite was 0.65% up around 7.15 am this morning.
Earlier on Friday, the Wall Street saw strong closing as Dow Jones ended 216 points or 0.60% higher at 35,971, Nasdaq Composite scaled 113 points or 0.73% to 15,631, while S&P 500 closed on record high after gaining 0.99% or 44.57 % to 4712.02
