The Indian markets started Thursday on a flat note after surging for three days in a row. The benchmarks have gained nearly 4 per cent in the last three trading sessions. The broader Nifty 50 opened above 17,600 and the Sensex declined by 30 points in the opening trade. The two indices opened at 17,767.75 and 59,528.16 respectively.
Tata Consumer, Asian Paints, Titan, IOC, NTPC, Maruti, ITC, Mahindra and Mahindra were among top gainers. Those declined the most in the opening trade were HDFC, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv and Infosys.

In the pre-open, the Sensex opened flat as the index declined marginally by 30 points to start at 59,528.16. As many as 19 shares advanced and 11 declined on the 30-share index at the opening.
In the morning trade On Thursday, Japanese Nikkei 225 was trading lower by 1.17 %, while no trading was seen on Hang Seng index and Shanghai Composite. Hinting flat opening for the Indian markets, SGX Nifty was trading flat with negative bias at around 8 am on the Singaporean Exchange on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the US market continued its upward rally as major indices ended in the green on Wall Street. Dow Jones closed with gains of 0.63%, Nasdaq Composite ended 0.50% higher, and S&P 500 closed higher by 0.94% on Wednesday.
