Domestic equity benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty50 started fresh day in the green. The indices gained marginally to open at 58,839.32 and 17,532.90, respectively. The Bank Nifty also opened nearly 100 points higher at 37,384.75 on Wednesday.

ONGC, Ultratech Cement, Coal India, BPCL and Adani Ports were top gainers on the Nifty 50, while Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel, Infosys were top losers.

The Nifty50 index saw 42 shares advancing and 8 declining in the market open, while 20 shares were in the green on 30-share Sensex and other 10 were trading negative.

Earlier, the SGX Nifty Futures, which was trading 42 points higher to 17,551 around 7.25 am, hinted at positive opening for the Indian markets.

In the pre-open both indices were trading marginally higher on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, the Asian markets were trading mixed this morning as Japanese Nikkei 225 was down 197 points to 29,576, Hang Seng Index was up 49 points at 24,701 and Shanghai Composite traded flat at 3,590 around 7.30 am this morning.

Earlier on Tuesday, the wall street indices closed mixed yesterday. Dow Jones gained 194,55 points or 0.55% to close at 35,813.80, Nasdaq Composite ended 0.50 lower or 79.62 points down o 15,775.14 and S&P 500 was up 7.76 points or 0.17% to 4690.70

Earlier on Tuesday, headlines indices Nifty50 and S&P BSE Sensex made a strong recovery after correcting almost 1 per cent in the early trade to end nearly 0.50% higher each.
