Domestic equity market started Wednesday on a positive note amid easing of tension between Russia and Ukraine. The Nifty50 opened above 17,400, while the Sensex gained over 250 points. The two indices started the fresh trading session at 17,408.45 and 58,310.68 respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Maruti, Grasim, HDFC Life, HCL Tech, HDFC ltd, Powergrid and Kotak Bank were top gainers on Wednesday. Shree Cement, Dr Reddy's, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Titan and Tata Steel dragged the market the most in Wednesday's opening

Meanwhile, SGX Nifty hinted at a flat to positive opening for the Indian markets as the Futures index was trading 38 points or 0.22% higher to 17,386 on Monday. 

In the pre-open, the Sensex gained more than 150 points to trade above 58,300 as 24 shares advanced, 4 declined and one remained unchanged on Tuesday.  

Earlier, Japan`s Nikkei soared 1.9% to rebound from two days of falls, while Australia`s S&P/ASX200 gained half a percent in the early trade. Hong Kong`s Hang Seng Index jumped 1.1% early in the session, and China`s CSI300 Index was up 0.4%. 

In the US market on Tuesday, all major Wall Street indices ended in the green as Dow Jones settled with 1.22% gain, Nasdaq Composite closed 2.53% higher, S&P 500 was up 1.58% and Russell 2000 gained 2.76% in Tuesday's closing. 

 The initial public offer of Manyavar owner Vedant Fashions IPO is all set to be listed on the bourses today, February 16. Market experts and analysts are of the view that shares of Vedant Fashions would be listed at flat to discounted rates on the exchanges.
