Stock Market Holidays 2022: The stock markets NSE and BSE will remain shut on 31 August 2022, Wednesday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. Meanwhile, country’s largest commodity exchange - the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will remain closed in the morning session between 9 am and 5 pm on Ganesh Chaturthi.
It will resume trading in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm on this day.
As for the agriculture commodity index NCDEX (National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited), the exchange will be closed for trading in both sessions i.e. in the morning (9 am to 5 pm) and evening (5 pm to 9 pm).
In August, the equity markets were earlier closed for trading on 9 August which was the day of Muharram (Tuesday). They were also closed on 15 August (Monday) on account of India’s Independence Day.
All these holidays have fallen on regular trading days. These holidays are apart from regular trading holidays on Saturday and Sundays.
Apart from this the markets will remain closed on four other occasions in 2022 in October and November. The days are 05 October (Wednesday), 24 October (Monday) and 26 October (Wednesday) on account of Dussehra, Dwali or Laxmi Pujan and Diwali Balipratipada.
In November there will be one trading holiday on 8 November on account of Gurunanak Jayanti. It is falling on Tuesday.
There were 13 declared holidays during the calendar year 2022.
