The surge in the stock was on the back of strong June quarter results for the financial year 2022-23 (Q1FY23).
The company’s operating revenue was at Rs 433.8 crore, growing by over 24 per cent year-on-year (YoY) driven by strong volume growth in existing products and new launches in the US & UK, Marksans Pharma said in its results highlighted through exchange filing on Friday.
While the company’s gross profit was at Rs 218.9 crore, growing by over 17 per cent YoY with a gross margin at 50.5 per cent YoY, the pharma company said.
Similarly, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) was at Rs 72.9 crore, declining by nearly 6 per cent with an EBITDA margin at around 17 per cent, on account of an increase in costs of material, freight costs and pricing pressure in the US, the filing said.
The company has emerged as a prime manufacturer and marketer of private-label store brands of consumer healthcare products in the USA, UK, and Australia. This is driven by our commitment to investing in product innovation, newer capacities, and increasing penetration, the management said.

Renowned investor Mukul Agrawal has 50,00,000 equity shares or 1.22 per cent stakes in Marksans Pharma, according to the June 2022 shareholding pattern of the company available on the BSE.

The stock on Tuesday closed between 6-7 per cent higher to Rs 52.95 and Rs 53.15 per share on the BSE and NSE as compared to a 0.64 and 0.72 per cent rise in the BSE Sensex and Nifty50 at the close.
