Muhurat Trading 2022: Leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE will conduct a one-hour special muhurat trading session today, marking the beginning of a new Samvat 2079 -- the Hindu calendar year that starts on Diwali.  The symbolic trading session would be held between 1815 hours and 1915 hours, the stock exchanges had said in separate circulars. It is believed that trading during the 'muhurat' or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth for the stakeholders. Commenting on what general buying trends have been observed during the auspicious Muhurat Trading, Tejas Khoday said, "In the history of muhurat trading there were only 4 instances that the markets were negative (2017, 2016, 2012 and 2007). In the rest of the years, it has been observed that the Sensex and Nifty have been positive, with 2008 being the best year with sensex booming 5.86%."

Speaking on if there is any significant uptick in the trading volume during a specific time of the Muhurat trading hour (6:15 to 7:15), Khoday said, "Yes, between 6.30 pm and and 7.00 pm there will be a significant volume uptick."

Talking about the general premarket conditions of the Muhurat trading hour, he added, "There are no specific premarket conditions in Muhurat trading. It is the same as normal premarket such as only equity orders are accepted and not multi-legged orders are allowed such as Bracket and Cover orders."

Trading would take place across various segments like equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB) in the same time slot.
