In the Special Mid-cap Picks show, Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi invited equity analyst Jay Thakkar and sought his top stock picks that would give good returns to investors. Thakkar recommended three stocks with long-term, positional and short-term perspective. The market analyst picked Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), V-Guard and Gujarat Alkalies.

Long-term: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)
Recommending this scrip, Thakkar said HAL share is trading at very attractive level and the reason being is that this counter showed reversal from 78.6 retracement level. He said there is golden crossover on the chart as per 50 days, 200 days moving average. Thakkar said the move that was seen from March low to its high was very impulsive and the stock has corrected sharply from there. "Looking at all these technical parameters, the stock should be bought with a stop-loss of Rs 810. It long-term target would be above and around Rs 1400," the market analyst said.

Positional: V-Guard
Thakkar picked V-Guard as his positional pick and said a golden crossover was seen in this stock. It has been also traded with good volume in the last one month. There is a breakout and monthly-weekly chart of this stock also suggest that consolidation is almost over. He suggested to buy this scrip with a stop-loss of Rs 175 for a target of Rs 390 in three to six months.

Short-term: Gujarat Alkalies
He said the stock that he is recommending today has been suggested earlier too and it has always achieved its target. Picking Gujarat Alkalies, he said this stock has been trading in the range of Rs 300 to Rs 380 since April. This stock is again trading around Rs 320 and should be purchased for short term. He suggested to buy this scrip by putting a stop-loss of Rs 308. He gave two targets of Rs 348 and Rs 360 for this stock in short term.
