Indian stock markets today ended the day in the green. While the BSE Sensex closed at lifetime high of 52,328.51, up by over 228 points or almost 0.4 per cent, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 15,751.65 at the closing time on Monday, up by over 81 points or almost 0.5 per cent.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 21 stocks were trading in the green at the end of Monday’s trading session while the remaining 9 were trading in the red. The top five gainers on Monday at close were Powergrid, NTPC, Ultratech Cement, Relaince Industries and Indusind Bank while the top 5 losers were Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC, Dr Reddy's Lab and SBI.

Meanwhile in the 50-share NSE Nifty 50, at the closing time 33 shares advanced while remaining 17 declined. Adani Ports, Powergrid, NTPC, Tata Motors and Ultratech Cement. The top 5 losers in the day’s trade were Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC, Divis Lab and Cipla.

Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Bank were trading in the green at close on Monday while Nifty Financial Services ended the day in the red.

Nifty Indices

  • Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Bank ended in the green, rising by o,5 per cent at 15,751.65.
  • Nifty Auto ended up 0.7 per cent at 10,806.55 .
  • State-run banks continue to perform better as Nifty PSU Bank ended up 0.4 per cent on Monday at . Indian Overseas Bank was the biggest gainer followed by Central bank of India. SBI and Canara Bank among top losers.
  • Nifty FMCG, Nifty IT, and Nifty Media ended in the green. Meanwhile, Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma ened negatively.

Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 72.9700 on the BSE against the USD at 4 pm going down by 0.3 per cent.
