For the upcoming year 2022, the Indian stock exchanges — the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE have released a list of holidays on Thursday.

In all, there are 13 holidays in total in 2022, according to the list published on the BSE website. On these holidays the trade will not happen in 2022, in addition to Saturdays and Sundays. No trade will happen on the equity sector, equity derivative segment and SLB segment during these days. 

The maximum number of holidays fall in August and October in 2022. In August, on account of Muharram, Independence Day and Ganesh Chaturthi, the market won’t be functional on 09, 15 and 31st August of 2022. Tuesday, Monday and Wednesday are the respective days fall on these dates. 

While Dussehra, Diwali and Diwali Balipratipada falls on October 05, 24 and 26 in the upcoming year, during which the Indian stock exchanges will not witness trade.  

In January, there is only one holiday on January 26, Wednesday, on Republic Day. There are two holidays in March for Maha Shivratri and Holi on March 1, Tuesday and March 18, Friday.  

Similarly, there are two holidays in April on 14 and 15, Thursday and Friday on account of Mahavir/Ambedkar Jayanti as well as Good Friday respectively. 

In the month of May, there is only one trade holiday on May 3, 2022, Tuesday for Ramzan Id. Except for Saturdays and Sunday, there are no trade holidays in June and July in the upcoming year.  

November has only one trading holiday on account of Gurunank Jayanti on November 08, Tuesday. While September and December 2022, have no trading holidays falling out of Saturdays and Sundays. 

On account of Indian festivals such as Ram Navami, Maharashtra Day, Bakri Id, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Christmas fall on Sundays and therefore there are no exclusive holidays declared for these events on the BSE list.
