The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday released domestic air passenger traffic data for the month of June 2021.

The aviation regulator DGCA has allowed airlines to sell seats up to 65 per cent of in comparison to pre-covid capacity levels on domestic flights earlier in July, paving way for airlines to deploy more capacity on domestic routes.
As many as 3.11 million passengers travelled by air in June as compared to 2.12 million passengers reported in May 2021, DGCA’s air passenger data portrays.
IndiGo being the leader in the sector has carried 17.02 lakh passengers in June, with a 54.7 per cent share of the domestic market, followed SpiceJet, which flew 2.81 lakh passengers, comprising 9 per cent share of the market.
While the state-run and cash-strapped Air India carried 5.14 lakh passengers in the month with a market share of 16.5 per cent.
In the passenger load factor or occupancy, Indigo’s rate stood at 62.7 per cent, SpiceJet’s at 71 per cent and for Air India it stood at 58.4 per cent, the data showed.
While the passenger load factor of GoAir, Air Asia and Vistara stood at 70.9, 54.4 and 60 per cent respectively, the aviation regulator said in a report.
With respect to on-time performance, IndiGo ranked at the top position with 98.5 per cent, followed by Air Asia with 98.2 per cent and SpiceJet with 96.7 per cent, whereas Go Air, which has filed an DRHP paper wit SEBI, was at the bottom with 92.2 per cent in terms of on-time performance.
The aviation stocks on Tuesday failed to shine amid the exponential surge in the June air passenger traffic data. Interglobe Aviation (Indigo) closed over 5 per cent lower to Rs 1,674.55 per share, while SpiceJet declined by over 2 per cent to Rs 75.75 per share on the BSE, as compared to 0.68 per cent dip in the S&P BSE Sensex.
