Kheruka said that the Indian economic recovery has been quite V-shaped. Production and demand have been on the rise since August-September, he added. He said that he was confident that demand will increase, going forward. He said that the problems though stand tall especially with the emergence of the new Covid-19 variant and it is still not known if the vaccines will be effective against the new strain.
Budget 2021 Expectations
He said that Borosil has many units in India and the direct competition is with China. While the company imports some products from China, the MD said that a “level playing field” could make it more competitive in terms of prices. Any manufacturing incentives and laws related to sector would be welcomed, he opined.
Road Ahead
On expansions, he said that there are two Group companies – one is Borosil Limited and the other is Borosil Renewables. There is an expansion plan of Rs 500 for the latter. As for Borosil Limited, the company manufactures vials for vaccines. The demand for vials is increasing and the company would increase capacity for this. The expansion in scientific products will be done.
For consumer related products, Borosil will take a call depending upon the demand situation, he said.
