FIRST TRADE: Sensex up over 300 pts, Nifty above 19,800; Ceat Ltd up 3%

Stock market today: The domestic equity indices on Tuesday, October 17, opened higher, tracking a rebound in global stocks, with moderating oil prices aiding sentiment.

Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 345.5 points, or 0.52 per cent, at 66,512.43, and the NSE Nifty was up 105.7 points, or 0.54 per cent at 19,837.45.

Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 traded in positive territory.

Nifty Bank was up 0.72 per cent at 44,545.75.

BUZZING STOCKS 

CEAT stock was up over 3 per cent a day after the company posted its Q2 numbers.

ICICI Securities shares were up over 5 per cent post-Q2 results. 

KEC International shares were up over 3 per cent after it secured orders worth Rs 1,315 crore across its various business verticals.

Deepak Nitrite shares were up over 2 per cent after Axis Capital gave a buy call on the stock.

Tata Power shares were up over 1 per cent after its subsidiary signed a PDA agreement with Endurance Technologies.

Delta Corp shares were up nearly 2 per cent after institutional broker BofA Securities Europe SA and Societe Generale together sold 43,66,464 shares in the entity.

HDFC Bank's shares were up nearly 1 per cent post-Q2 results.

Cyient DLM shares were up over 5 per cent post-Q2 results.

Conversely, Selan Exploration shares were down nearly 1 per cent post-Q2 results.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Major US stock indexes ended sharply higher on Monday as investors were optimistic about the start of earnings season, while transportation and small-cap shares also jumped.

Market participants were monitoring the Israeli war in Gaza but appeared to be taking more of a risk-on stance on Monday, with safe-haven gold prices down.

Israeli forces continued their bombardment of Gaza, which has killed thousands, including many women and children, after efforts to arrange a cease-fire stalled.
