FIRST TRADE: Sensex opens 30 points lower, Nifty above 19,380; PowerGrid up over 1%
Stock market today: On the Sensex, Power Grid (up over 1.5 per cent) was the top gainer, followed by Nestle (India) and Reliance Industries (RIL).
Stock market today: The domestic equity market witnessed a quiet start to trading on Thursday, July 6. In the early deals, the S&P BSE Sensex traded at 65,408.62 levels, down 37 points, or 0.06 per cent while the NSE's Nifty was trading at 19,396.80 points, down 1.70 points, or 0.01 per cent. On the Sensex, Power Grid (up over 1.5 per cent) was the top gainer, followed by Nestle (India) and Reliance Industries (RIL). On the other hand, IndusInd Bank (down 1 per cent) was the biggest loser, followed by Tata Steel and HCL Tech.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index traded 0.35 per cent higher at 29,095.10 levels while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up 0.53 per cent at 33,178.08 points. Among sectoral indices, the S&P Realty index gained the most - up 1.86 per cent, followed by the BSE Power index- up 0.75 per cent.
