Stock market today: India equity indices opened in the red zone on Friday, July 28 with NSE Nifty 50 near the 19,600 level and Sensex around the 66,100 mark. Last seen, the Nifty50 index was trading at 19,635.4, down 24.5 points, while the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 66,145.73, down 121.09 points. Financial services, IT, and metal stocks dragged the headline index.
Broader market
Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 both opened flat. Nifty Midcap opened at 37,234.10 and Smallcap 100 at 11,610.15.
Sectoral watch
Nifty Bank also opened lower by 0.3 per cent at 45,560.9. On the sectoral front, while Nifty FMCG and Pharma gave support to the headline index, Nifty IT, Metal and Financial Services dragged the index.
Buzzing stocks
Bharat Electronics or BEL opened nearly 3 per cent higher post results, India Bulls Housing Finance opened nearly 2 per cent up along with Delta Corp up nearly 2 per cent, IEX up over 2 per cent, Sun TV up half a per cent, and Escorts Kubota up over 1 per cent.
Conversely, Dr. Lal PathLabs was down over 4 per cent post results, Samvardhana Motherson was down over 1 per cent, IOC was down nearly 3 per cent, HPCL was down over 1 per cent, and Metropolis was down over 1 per cent.
