Stock market today: The domestic equity market on Friday (February 23) edged higher in the opening deals, with Nifty50 scripting a fresh peak for the fifth straight session. The stocks rallied on broad-based buying. Further, a rally in global technology stocks thanks to stellar results by AI bellwether Nvidia, too, aided sentiment.

Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 101.5 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 73,259.74, and the NSE Nifty traded 36.75 points, or 0.16 per cent, at 22,252.15. 

Meanwhile, Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 traded in the green. Nifty Bank was muted with a positive bias at 46,938.95. 

BUZZING STOCKS

Vodafone Idea shares rose nearly 8 per cent in trade after the company announced that its board would consider raising funds in a meeting on February 27.

IRCTC shares were up over 2 per cent after the company signed an agreement with Swiggy.

Godrej Properties shares were up over 1 per cent after the Bombay High Court ruled in favour of the company over CIDCO's decision to cancel the allotment of two plots.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering shares were up over 8 per cent after the company announced it would consider raising funds in the board meeting on February 27.

RBL Bank shares were up over 1 per cent after MATHEW CYRIAC bought 32.75 lakh shares, or 0.54 per cent, equity at 265.58 per share. 

Honasa Consumer, the parent company of Mamaearth, shares were up over 3 per cent after Citi initiated a buy on the stock. 

Conversely, Prataap Snacks shares were down over 3 per cent after the company denied the news of ITC's plan to buy shares in the company.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian stocks rose on Friday and put global markets on course for a week of heady gains as AI darling Nvidia's stunning results sparked a wave of record highs from Asia to Europe and the U.S., while the yen nursed losses on a range of currencies.
