FINAL TRADE: Sensex up 283 pts; Nifty settled at 19,231 amid broad-based buying
Stock market today: At close, the S&P BSE Sensex closed 282.88 points, or 0.44 per cent, higher at 64,363.78, and the NSE Nifty settled 97.35 points, or 0.52 per cent up at 19,230.6 levels.
Stock market today: The domestic equity indices on Friday, November 3, settled higher for the second straight session amid broad-based buying. The interest rate pause by the US Fed boosted sentiment globally, including in India.
At close, the S&P BSE Sensex closed 282.88 points, or 0.44 per cent, higher at 64,363.78, and the NSE Nifty settled 97.35 points, or 0.52 per cent up at 19,230.6 levels.
In the Nifty basket, 36 stocks finished above the flatline, with Apollo Hospitals, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors, Titan, and LTIMindtree being the major winners, rising between 2 and 5.34 per cent for the day. Conversely, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, SBI Life, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and IndusInd Bank were the top laggards.
Titan, JSW Steel, and Tata Motors were the top stocks that supported the 30-scrip index.
The Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 settled in green.
High-beta Nifty Bank was up 0.7 per cent at 43,318.25.
BUZZING STOCKS
JK Lakshmi Cement shares were up over 10 per cent a day after the company announced its September quarter results.
Dr. Lal Pathlab's shares were up over 5 per cent a day after it announced its Q2 results.
Zomato shares were up over 8 per cent a day after the company posted its Q2 results.
CONCOR shares were up over 5 per cent, a day after the company reported Q2 numbers.
Conversely, Godfrey Phillips India shares slipped over 8 per cent after the company posted Q2 results.
Sheela Foam shares were down over 2 per cent after posting weak Q2 numbers.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares advanced on Friday after Wall Street roared higher on bets that market-rattling interest rate hikes are coming to an end. Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 2.6 per cent to 17,680.01, while the Shanghai Composite gained 0.7 per cent to 3,026.32.
Tokyo markets were closed for a holiday. In China, a services industry survey showed a slight improvement in October, though retail sales hit their lowest level in 10 months.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 leaped 1.9 per cent Thursday to 4,317.78 for its fourth straight winning day. It's already up 4.9 per cent this week and on pace for its best week in nearly a year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.7 per cent to 33,838,08, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.8 per cent to 13,294.19.
