Stock market today: The equity benchmark indices ended in the green for the second consecutive session on Monday (August 7) amid healthy buying in healthcare, tech, and telecommunication stocks. The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 65,953.48, up 232 points, or 0.35 per cent while the NSE's Nifty ended at 19,597.30, up 80 points, or 0.41 per cent.

On the Sensex pack, 22 stocks ended in green and the rest eight in red. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) emerged as the biggest gainer on the index (up over 4 per cent), followed by Sun Pharma (up 2 per cent), and Bajaj Finserv (up 1.63 per cent).  On the downside, State Bank of India (SBI) was the biggest loser. 

BUZZING STOCKS 

Zomato's shares touched a 52-week high, continuing to rise for the fifth session in a row. The Zomato stock gained by as much as Rs 7.4 or 7.8 per cent to Rs 102.9 apiece on the BSE, surpassing a 52-week high touched on Friday. It closed at Rs 97.66, up 2.34 per cent. Shares of One97 Communications, the parent company of digital payments company Paytm, zoomed over 11 per cent after the company informed bourses that Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the founder, managing director, and CEO, will purchase a 10.3 per cent stake in the company, as per the firm's regulatory filing on August 7. The stock eventually ended at Rs 851 on the NSE, up 6.83 per cent. 

SECTOR WATCH

Healthcare stocks gained the most in trade today. The S&P BSE Healthcare index rallied 1.61 per cent to 28,300 levels. Next on the list was S&P BSE Telecommunication (up 1.28 per cent), and the S&P BSE Information Technology index was up 1.07 per cent at 31,109.67.

BROADER MARKET

The S&P BSE MidCap index gained 0.56 per cent higher at 30,331.02 points, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index ended 0.26 per cent higher at 35,162.06 levels.
