Stock market today: The bulls continued to dominate Dalal Street on Monday, July 3, with benchmark indices ending at yet another record high. The S&P BSE Sensex ended above the 65,000 level for the first time today, while the NSE's Nifty, too, surpassed the 19,300 mark for the first time. Nifty Bank also breached the 45,000 level. At close, the 30-share index of the BSE ended at 65,205.05, up 486 points, or 0.75 per cent. NSE's Nifty ended at 19,322.55, up 133.5 points, or 0.7 per cent. Nifty Bank shut shop at 45,158 levels.
Reliance Industries (RIL) ended as the top gainer on the Sensex, up 2.53 per cent, followed by ITC (up 2.50 per cent) and Bajaj Finance (up 2.38 per cent). On the other hand, Sun Pharma (down over 1 per cent) was the biggest loser. HDFC duo continued to rally on merger completion. HDFC Bank shares ended at Rs 1,719.55 apiece on the BSE, up 1 per cent and HDFC ended at Rs 2871.20, up 1.76%.
"The market's record-breaking momentum continued as the robust June GST collections, and the monsoon covering most parts of the country in the last few days brought cheers to investors. The rally has been mostly due to strong foreign fund inflows and India performing well on most of the economic parameters could further strengthen the fund flows in the near term. Technically, the Nifty hovered between the 19,250 to 19,335 price range, with the short-term technical set-up still on the positive side. However, due to temporary overbought conditions, we could see some profit booking at higher levels. For traders, 19,250-19,180 would be the key levels to watch out for while 19,400-19,435 could act as a crucial resistance zone," said Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Research (Retail), Kotak Securities.
