The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday announced a loan of Rs 50000 cr for the healthcare emergencies. Moreover, the banks have been asked to make a separate loan book for Covid. Commenting on this, Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi said that these loans facilities should be used by hospitals, pathology labs and medical equipment companies. These companies can go to banks and ask for loans he said adding that the banks will consider these loans as priority while lending money to these companies.

Speaking on this, Arvind Lal, Managing Director (MD) of Dr Lal PathLabs said that this was a step in right direction which should have been taken much earlier. He sadi that oxygen, beds and hospitals were key requirements for people under the current circumstances. He said that the loans should be disbursed immediately as per the requirements.

Lal said that hospitals which need more ventilators or oxygen cylinders should use these facilities to avail loan from banks. He further said that Dr Lal was doing 20,000 RTPCR tests compared to 3000 to 4000 tests earlier. Capacities have been increased drastically and can do that going ahead as well.

The MD said that they have increased the testing capacity of the company 5 times and still they can double or triple the capacities from here on as well. Trained staff is required to get samples from homes of clients, they is shortage of trained staff.

Lal said that they will work in tandem with the Government. If the company needs additional funds to buy more instruments or to develop new labs, they will decide internally with the loan committee to evaluate if they want to use the loan facility given by RBI.

Lal said that Oxygen shortages are creating a terrible situation in the country right now. Companies who are into this business should try to use these facilities. Companies in manufacturing line will need money to scale up their business. New Entrepreneurs should use these facilities and avail their benefit.

He also said that it was important for people to understand that they need to get tested from reliable pathology companies such as his. Government should understand that sometimes customers are staying at remote location; it is difficult to give results within 24 hours.

Lal said that people and doctor should cooperate with the pathology companies, understand that they start working on the samples immediately after they receive in their lab, and study properly to give accurate results.
