The India markets on Wednesday closed at record high levels, with Sensex ending near 60750 level which Nifty above 18150 mark for the first time ever.
The India markets on Wednesday closed at record high levels, with Sensex ending near 60750 level which Nifty above 18150 mark for the first time ever. The surge in the benchmarks was powered by auto stock as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra gained the most in the trade today.
BSE Sensex gained over 450 points or 0.75 per cent at 60,737.5 - which was its third consecutive rise, while Nifty50 grew over 166 points or 0.94 per cent to 18161.2. Even the mid-cap index closed at record high breaching the 32,250 mark for the first time, up near 500 points or 1.5 per cent.

As many as 34 stocks advanced and 15 declined and one remained unchanged on Nifty50 index at the market close today. Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s second favourite stock Tata Motors spurted over 21 per cent at the market close on Wednesday, followed by M&M up 5 per cent.
Other stocks such as Tata Consumer, ITC, Power Grid, Adani Ports, and Grasim gained between 2-5 per cent in a record high market on Wednesday.
On the contrary, Maruti along with ONGC declined most by over 2 per cent, followed by SBI Life, Coal India, and HUL slumped over 1 per cent each in other wise record closing high market today.
Except for realty stocks, all other Nifty indices ended positive, with Nifty Auto surging most by near 3.5 per cent, followed by Nifty IT up over 1 per cent. While other sectoral indices such as bank, fmcg metal, pharma also gained in the record high market on Wednesday.
