Closing Bell: Sensex, Nifty50 conclude on mixed note - IT, FMCG, Realty drag market most
At the market close, the BSE Sensex slipped by 35.78 points or 0.06 per cent to 58,817.29, while Nifty50 gained by 9.65 points or 0.06 per cent to 17,534.75.
The Indian markets concluded Wednesday’s session mixed/flat with Sensex in the red and Nifty50 in the green above the 17500-mark. Sectors such as IT, Realty and FMCG stocks dragged the market most during today’s session.
At the market close, the BSE Sensex slipped by 35.78 points or 0.06 per cent to 58,817.29, while Nifty50 gained by 9.65 points or 0.06 per cent to 17,534.75. The broader markets ended its session in the red, as both mid and small-cap indices slipped between 0.1-0.2 per cent at the close.
As many as 30 stocks advanced and 20 declined on Nifty50 at the close. Hindalco gained most to become a top Nifty gainer, up around 4.5 per cent amid strong June quarter results, followed by UPL and Coal India each up over 2 per cent at the market close on Wednesday.
While other heavyweights such as Tata Steel, Apollo Hospitals, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel each gained between 1.5-2 per cent at the market close today.
On the contrary, Bajaj Finance continued to be at a lowest position on Nifty50 since start of the session today, down over 2.5 per cent, followed by ONGC down almost 2 per cent. While HCL Tech, Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, SBI were also among the top losers, each down over 1 per cent.
