Closing Bell: Nifty near 15,700, Sensex adds over 400 points; IT stocks decline in positive market
Extending gains for the second consecutive session, the Indian market ended higher by nearly one per cent amid positive global cues on Friday.
Extending gains for the second consecutive session, the Indian market ended higher by nearly one per cent amid positive global cues on Friday. Benchmark Nifty50 gained around 0.9% to end near 15,700, while headline index Sensex surged over 450 points to close around 52,700.
Outperforming benchmark indices, Nifty midcap and small cap ended higher by 1.3% and 1.7% respectively.
On the sectoral front, except Nifty IT, which declined around 0.8%, all other indices ended in the green on the last trading session of the week.
Among stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers. Tech Mahindra, Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech and Wipro fell in an otherwise positive market.
