Domestic stock markets started the day on new highs. The S&P BSE Sensex scaled 49,000-mark for the first time ever on the back of positive global cues. The Sensex which opened higher at 49,252.31 touched the high of 49,269.02 & low of 48,956.38 and was trading 360.67 points or 0.74% high at 49,143.18 higher at 49,130.97 at 12:46 am. The Nifty 50 index also opened higher at 14,474.05 and touched high of 14,479.70 and low of 14,383.10 was trading 99.15 points or 0.69% high at 14,446.40 at 12.48.

SBI Life (up 0.35%), HDFC Life (up 0.70%), ICICI Prudential Life (up 0.057%): Insurance stocks were trading higher on reports that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may increase the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) limit in the sector from 49% to 74%, sources close to the development informed Zee Business.

Sadbhav Engineering (up 1.77%): The Company has received Letter of Acceptance from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited for Metro Rail Project for a contract value of Rs 779.73 crores.

Adani Power (up 2.53%): There has been a block deal of 11 lakh shares at Rs 55.65 per share.

FADA December Data: December registrations for the first time in FY20-21 witnesses’ positive growth of 11%. two-wheelers, Passenger Vehicles and Tractor categories grow by 11.8%, 24% and 35.5% (YoY) while CV and three-wheelers continue to degrow by -13.5% and -52.7% (YoY).
