At least a dozen companies witnessed bulk deals with shares changing hand during Thursday’s trading session. Among the biggest newsmakers was Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited which saw maximum traction. Investment banks Societe Generale and BNP Paribas Arbitrage together dumped 51 lakh shares in the company through open market transactions today.

Societe Generale and BNP Paribas Arbitrage sold 27,40,400 and 23,59,500 equity shares at Rs 221.34 and Rs 221.75 per share, respectively, in Indiabulls Housing Finance on the NSE, as per the Bulk Deals data on Thursday.

As of September 2021, Societe Generale held 58.77 lakh shares, amounting to 1.27 per cent stake in the company, and BNP Paribas Arbitrage owned 71.82 lakh shares or 1.56 per cent stake in the firm. The stock closed around 5.5 per cent to Rs 226.55 per share on the BSE.

Similarly, Punjab National Bank sold 9,62,872 equity shares in GTL Limited at Rs 15.6 per share on the NSE, according to the bulk deals data.

While individual investor Shifa Mohammed Hamidani bought 1,22,500 equity shares and Anish J Saraf HUF sold 1,50,000 equity shares in Libas Consu Products Ltd at Rs 29.36 and Rs 29.9 per share respectively on the NSE, the bulk deals data showed.

Similarly, Padmawati Realcon Private Limited bought 64,000 equity shares and Khera Kubeir sold 80,000 equity shares in ASL Industries Limited at the same price of Rs 24.5 per share on the NSE, the bulk deals data mentioned on Thursday.

Individual investors Sumit Binani sold 1,00,000 equity shares in Shah Alloys Limited at Rs 41.7 per share; Sony Sebastian for the second straight session sold 87,20,715 shares in Vikas Prop & Granite Ltd Rs 1.54 per share on the NSE, the bulk deals data portrayed.

A deal where the total quantity of shares bought or sold is greater than 0.5 per cent of the share capital of the company is called bulk deal. It can be transacted either through the normal trading window or through the block trading window.
