Highlights! Stock Market News Today: Sensex gains over 150 points, Nifty50 settles above 17300 at close – IT, Metals lead the surge
Stock Market Live Updates: The domestic markets concluded Thursday’s session on a higher note, continuing their winning streak for the second straight session on the back of positive global cues. The BSE Sensex surged over 150 points and Nifty50 ended above the 17300-mark at the market close.
At market close, the BSE Sensex was up 157 points or 0.27 per cent to 58,222 while Nifty50 was up by 57 points or 33 per cent to 17,331 levels on Thursday. Outperforming the benchmark indices, the broader markets such as the Nifty mid and small cap were up around 1 per cent each at the close.
As many as 29 stocks advanced and 21 declined on Nifty50 at the close. Metal stocks such as JSW Steel, and Hindalco were the top two Nifty gainers, up between 4-5 per cent, followed by Tata Steel, other top gainers were – HCL Tech, Coal India, ICICI Bank, Infosys, and L&T.
On the contrary, FMCG stocks were among the top losers such as HUL and Britannia along with Bharti Airtel, HUL, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, and SBI Life during today’s positive session.

Stock Market Top Gainers And Losers On 06 Oct
Almost all sectoral indices were gaining in the early morning trade. Metal gained most by over 1 per cent, followed by Auto up around 1 per cent. Most Nifty50 stocks were in the green minutes after the market open today – Hindalco, JSW Steel, HCL Tech, Larsen and Toubro were among the top gainers, while Bajaj Finance, Cipla, HUL, HDFC were among the losers on Thursday.
