While, Coronavirus pandemic has become a global nemesis now with over 2 lakh deaths already and more than 30 lakh people getting infected, there is still a silver lining to all this.

The nationwide lockdown has brought something to cheer about in the midst of gloom. The daily reported deaths from heart diseases has comedown in India since the lockdown period started a month back.
 
The doctors are of the view that the current crisis has increased the endurance level of your hearts. The number of heart attack cases have come down between 30 and 70 per cent across many countries. The number of cases in hospitals pertaining to heart attacks have come down significantly.

According to Samin K. Sharma, Senior Vice President (Operations and Quality) at New York's Mount Sinai Heart, heart ailments have reduced during the lockdown period. The numbers have dropped between 30-70 per cent, he says. Countries like the US, India, Spain and China have reported fewer cases of heart attacks in this period.

Primary reasons for health improvements:

-- The environment is become cleaner with less pollutants in the air. Traffic and industrial wastage have reduced significantly. There is less noise pollution which has also played its part. Work related pressure has come down. Activity has improved at homes reducing stress levels.

-- Air pollution reduction has reduced chances of attacks among the heart patients.

Ways to remain fit:

-- Make sure that you exercise daily for 15 minutes.
-- Say no to oily food.
-- Include meditation in your daily lifestyle. It calms your mind.
